AEB celebrating National Egg Day at USDA Farmers Market

The American Egg Board (AEB) will participate in the Fresh This Week tent at the USDA Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 2 in commemoration of National Egg Day 2017.

The American Egg Board (AEB) will participate in the Fresh This Week tent at the USDA Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 2 in commemoration of National Egg Day 2017.

Now in its 22nd year, USDA’s Farmers Market demonstrates USDA’s dedication to supporting America’s food systems and increasing consumer access to fresh, healthy foods.

“America’s egg farmers are eggcited to educate attendees about the nutritional powerhouse that eggs can provide to nutritious diets. In fact, one large egg provides 6 grams of high-quality protein and varying amounts of 13 essential vitamins and minerals,” said Anne L. Alonzo, president and CEO of the American Egg Board. “We’re looking forward to supporting USDA and hosting an interactive experience for attendees.”

The AEB’s activities at the Fresh This Week tent include:

  • Howard Helmer – the World’s Fastest Omelet Maker – will host cooking demonstrations throughout the day highlighting his famous omelets and easy, portable deviled eggs.
  • “Eggy” the Incredible Egg mascot will take pictures, and attendees can pose in front of a themed photo backdrop.
  • Free EggPops, hard-boiled eggs served on both asparagus and serving sticks, will be sampled during the Farmers Market. Remaining eggs will be donated to the DC Kitchen.
  • Attendees also will have the opportunity to receive incredible swag, including recipes, stickers and temporary tattoos.

The American Egg Board looks forward to connecting with both D.C. residents and tourists from across our country. “This event creates an incredible opportunity to talk all about eggs, on behalf of America’s egg farmers,” Alonzo added.
