Poultry barn fire kills as many as 134,000 chicks

Baer Poultry Co. suffers losses on fire that occurred on June 11

As many as 134,000 chicks died in a poultry barn fire on June 11 near Hawley, Minnesota.

Emergency personnel responded to a report of a barn fire at Baer Poultry Co.

Nobody was at the facility at the time, and the blaze was reported by a person who was driving by, reported the West Fargo Pioneer.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading into other structures on the farm. The incident is being investigated by the Minnesota Fire Marshal’s office.
