From WATTAgNet:

Matt Mika, the Tyson Foods director of government relations who was shot at a practice for a Congressional baseball game in June, is recovering from the incident and seemingly still has a love for the game of baseball.

Mika threw out the first pitch at the Detroit Tigers game at home against the Minnesota Twins on September 24.

Mika, a Michigan native, was one of five people shot at a ball field on June 14 in Alexandria, Virginia. Also injured was House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-Louisiana. Scalise is also still recovering, and has not yet returned to Capitol Hill.

Shortly after the shooting, Mika’s family said he suffered “massive trauma” and was “lucky to be alive.” He underwent surgeries at George Washington University Hospital.

In describing his recovery, Mika told WXYZ: “My ribs are still recovering. My left hand, I don’t have feeling yet in my hand.”

But Mika still showed good form when he threw his pitch.

The suspect in the June shooting incident was identified as James T. Hodgkinson, a resident of Belleville, Illinois. He was shot by police at the scene and died at a nearby hospital.
