From WATTAgNet:

Cleanup and debris removal is taking place at an Indiana egg farm that lost several buildings and more than a million hens in an October 2 fire.

The fire occurred at the Hi-Grade Egg Producers facility near North Manchester, Indiana. Hi-Grade Egg Producers is operated by Midwest Poultry Services, the ninth largest egg producer in the United States.

Company President Bob Krause told Inside Indiana Business the company plans to rebuild and that he hopes the facility will be back to full production one year from now. He anticipates that the rebuilding of the lost barns will begin in the spring of 2018.

In the meantime, other egg producers have helped in supplying Hi-Grade Egg Producers’ customers. The lost supply amounts to about 600,000 dozen eggs per week, Krause said.

The fire, which burned for about seven hours, was believed to have started in one building and spread to others. A cause has not yet been determined.
