Biomin launches Digestarom DC: The feed converter

Biomin has recently introduced its innovative, next generation phytogenic feed additive, Digestarom DC, to the Indian feed and livestock sectors as the animal nutrition firm continues its global ambition to become the phytogenic feed additive market leader by 2020.

Biomin has recently introduced its innovative, next generation phytogenic feed additive, Digestarom DC, to the Indian feed and livestock sectors as the animal nutrition firm continues its global ambition to become the phytogenic feed additive market leader by 2020.

“Digestarom DC represents a dramatically new approach to phytogenics and feed efficiency,” stated Ed Manchester, Regional Director Asia at Biomin. “We’ve concentrated our efforts on how to improve feed conversion, because we know that it’s a core concern for livestock and feed producers around the globe.”

According to the Biomin 2017 Phytogenic Feed Additives Survey, enhanced digestibility and feed efficiency ranked as the most important benefit of phytogenics to the 1140 industry respondents.

Optimized feed conversion in India

“Feed conversion improvement is tied to a host of modern production issues, including profitability, improving the low digestibility of feed ingredients, reducing antibiotics, counteracting stressors, and overcoming environmental challenges,” stated Sujit Kulkarni, Managing Director Biomin India.

“Digestarom DC is the result of significant proprietary R&D and leverages the know-how of the longstanding and successful Digestarom product line,” he explained, adding “With a clear and documented mode of action, Digestarom DC results in improved palatability, enhanced digestibility, reduced intestinal challenge, better animal product quality, and improved animal welfare.”

Introducing the Biomin Duplex Capsule

Based on considerable research and development, Digestarom DC incorporates the innovative Biomin Duplex Capsule technology that ensures the plant-based active compounds are delivered where they are needed to be most effective.

Speaking on the sidelines of Asia Nutrition Forum held on Oct. 25 in New Delhi, Michael Noonan, Global Director Phytogenics at Biomin remarked, “The unique encapsulation technology of Digestarom DC is designed for targeted release of specific phytogenic compounds throughout the digestive process, and demonstrates stability under common pelleting conditions. This ensures the triple action formulation can have the intended beneficial effects.”

The desire to improve feed efficiency, reduce antibiotic usage, lower the environmental footprint and optimize gut performance all contribute to the industry’s increased interest in phytogenic additives. Global demand for PFAs continue to increase as livestock producers seek natural alternatives to antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) in animal nutrition.
