José Aurélio Drummond Jr. has been appointed global CEO of Brazil-based meat and poultry company BRF.

The company announced Drummond’s appointment in a material fact posted on the BRF website. According to the material fact, Drummond’s appointment was approved by the BRF Board of Directors on November 22.

The company’s current global CEO, Pedro de Andrade Faria, will remain in his current capacity until Drummond takes office. The material fact did not state a date when Drummond begins in his new role, but an earlier posted material fact stated that Faria will remain until December 31 and would actively take part in the transition process.

Drummond has previously served in leadership roles with appliance company Whirlpool, aluminum company Alcoa, and power generation company Eneva.

Pedro de Andrade Faria's tenure with BRF

BRF announced in late August that it was seeking a successor to Faria. His history as a leader with the company dates back to 2013, when he was the CEO of BRF’s international operations. In that role, he prioritized markets and products with higher profitability, reduced risk of volatility and strengthened the company brands abroad. He was promoted to the BRF global CEO position in the beginning of 2015, succeeding Claudio Galeazzi.

“BRF thanks Mr. Pedro de Andrade Faria for the work done over all the period he held the position as global chief executive officer,” BRF stated.

Earlier in November, BRF released the financial results for its third quarter of fiscal year 2017. The company reported that it accelerated revenue growth during the quarter with an 8.8 percent increase in net operating revenue when compared to the third quarter of fiscal year 2016.

Formerly known as Brasil Foods, BRF ranks among the top five poultry processors and pig producers in the world. It is also involved in the turkey and compound animal feed sectors. According to the WATTAgNet Top Poultry Companies Database, BRF products reach more than 110 countries.
