NestFresh prides its self on maintaing values founded on sustainable agriculture on family based farms that support humane animal care, according to Brandy Gamoning, NestFresh marketing manger. The goal of its new product line, Heirloom eggs, came from listening to retail customers and consumers.

With the increase in demand for natural eggs, NestFresh came up with this line to provide an innovative product that is as natural as consumers want.  With this product, the company hopes to provide customers with a family-oriented type of product from feeding to care all the way to the table, Gamoning explained.

The Heirloom product is a line of eggs from bird breeds that are different than brown or white hens that consumers typically see in commercial production. These birds are a mix of Legbar and Americuana, including crossbreds of the two. This means the eggs in the new product line will be different colors, these will include a natural variation from the different breeds that are a combination of hazel brown and light blue. “It really makes for a beautiful product,” Gamoning said.

The egg line is set to launch with the first retailer HEB, in Texas, in six-count mix bundles in January.  “We do have ability to produce different pack sizes and products with the new line and ship them nationwide,” she said. However, at this time the Heirloom eggs are only confirmed with the before mentioned retailer.

“In addition to unique bird breeds and the various shell colors, the really great thing about the product is that although we have a national network of family farms, the product will go from a pasture raised environment in Texas to retailers in Texas,” Gamoning explained. This allows consumers to buy a product that is not only naturally raised but supports the idea of supporting the local family farm, something NestFresh prides themselves on working to achieve.

NestFresh hopes the new product line appeals to consumers that want validation about where their food comes. “We are committed to working with third parties that certify our claims. We hope to reach consumers who care a lot about how their food is produced, wants the best type of egg in a more holistic way, including supporting local farms and their families and consideration to the earth,” she noted.

NestFresh marketing team plans to pull on all their resources to hopefully expand the product to other retailers. This will include radio, print, digital media, web marketing and their newly designed website. Hopefully through successful marketing they will be able to offer consumers the Heirloom line in other retail venues.
