Water is a necessary component of producing a safe and wholesome source of protein. While the poultry and the egg industry has a long history of efficiently utilizing water in poultry and egg processing plants, the industry consistently faces new challenges ranging from bacteria thresholds in stormwater to the carryover of antimicrobial compounds into wastewater treatment plants. The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) is hosting an education program that examines some of the challenges involved in wastewater treatment at the 2018 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta. The program will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, and is free for all registered IPPE attendees.
Topics to be discussed include: Food Safety Chemical Update; Effects of Quaternary Ammonia on Wastewater Operations; Review of Research Project: Fate and Effect of Peracetic Acid Solutions in Poultry Processing Wastewater; and a Case Study on Anti-Microbial Effects on a Wastewater Treatment Plants.
IPPE, the world's largest annual poultry, feed and meat industry trade show, will be held Jan. 30 – Feb. 1, 2018. IPPE is a collaboration of three trade shows—the International Feed Expo, International Poultry Expo and International Meat Expo—representing the entire chain of protein production and processing. The event is sponsored by USPOULTRY, the American Feed Industry Association and the North American Meat Institute.
