House of Raeford Farms suspended operations at two of its plants in response to a winter storm affecting the Carolinas.
Meanwhile, a third plant that was damaged by a fire three weeks ago has not yet resumed operations.
On its Facebook page, House of Raeford announced that its poultry plant in Rose Hill, North Carolina, was not running a day shift or a night shift on January 4. The company also advised that it would not operate a day shift, but intended to resume operations for the night shift on January 5.
The company also stated that its plant in Hemingway, South Carolina, would not be in operation on January 4, but advised employees to call the facility’s Employee Schedule Change telephone line for updates on production on January 5.
Poultry plant affected by fire remains closed
The House of Raeford Farms poultry plant in Mocksville, North Carolina, remains closed three weeks after it was damaged by a fire.
Operations were suspended at the Mocksville plant on December 14, 2007, following a plant fire that was reported in the early morning hours. In a statement issued on January 3, House of Raeford Farms said that the plant remains out of operation as authorities are still in the process of investigating the cause of the fire, as well as determining the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
Since the investigation is still being conducted, House of Raeford does not know when the facility will be back in operation.
Workers at the plant have been paid their normal wages while the facility is out of operation, and will continue to be paid until otherwise notified.
The company is in the process of rebuilding another plant that was destroyed by a fire in February 2017. Reconstruction of that facility, in Teachey, North Carolina, is expected to be completed in the summer of 2018.
