Danish-based egg producer Danæg has acquired all assets of the Henriettelund packing company.

While the company name dates back to the 1930s, the egg packing business of Henriettelund was established in Randers in 1967 by Jens Andreasen, who remained its owner until the end of 2017.

Andreasen, who grew the business to produce about 25 million eggs annually and supply them to several of the major Danish retail chains, has approved the acquisition.

Danæg CEO Jann Dollerup Vig Jensen sees the acquisition of Henriettelund as a good match, and an important contribution to Danæg’s strategy.

The new owner has no plans to end the use of the Henriettelund brand as it is widely recognized and respected by Danish consumers.

According to the company’s website, Danæg is a group of four subsidiaries under the Danæg amba parent company, based in Christiansfeld in Denmark. Its member firms are Danæg A/S (egg packer) and Danæg Products A/S (egg processor) of Denmark, and Swedish companies Kronägg AB egg packers, and egg processors, Källbergs Industri AB.

DLG Group and the farming shareholders—about 68 Danish and Swedish farmers who supply eggs to the company—are now 50:50 owners of Danæg amba. The company has around 300 employees and annual sales of about DKK1.2 billion (US$197 million).
