Aviagen announced on Feb. 7 that Dr. Jose J. Bruzual has been named Senior Poultry Veterinary Specialist for Aviagen’s Global Veterinary Technical (GVT) team, effective Jan. 1. Reporting directly to Nick Dorko, global head of Veterinary Technical Services, Dr. Bruzual will work with customers in both North America and Latin America, helping them optimize the health, quality and performance of their poultry breeding stock.
Dr. Bruzual shares his in-depth expertise on poultry health and welfare to the benefit of Aviagen customers, and due to his industry-renowned reputation as a veterinary expert, is frequently asked to speak at industry events.
“We’re proud to have Jose as a valued contributor to our team. The GVT and our important North and Latin American customers continue to profit from his extensive knowledge and experience, as well as his faithful commitment to their success,” said Dorko. “We offer him our full support as he takes on this critical new role.”
Before moving to the new position, Dr. Bruzual served as the regional technical manager for Latin America, and was also the former regional technical service veterinarian for the GVT, offering health and management advice and conducting research on poultry health in both positions. He has worked for Perdue Farms, Embrex, Inc. (now Zoetis) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, as well as Protinal and Purina in Venezuela.
Dr. Bruzual earned a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the Central University of Venezuela, and a Master’s in both Poultry Science from North Carolina State University and in Avian Medicine from the University of Georgia.
