PSA Foundation announces Merck Animal Health Fellowship

The Poultry Science Association Foundation (PSA Foundation) was pleased to announce the Award of the 2018 Ph.D. Fellowship from Merck Animal Health during the International Production and Processing Expo in Atlanta, GA.

The Poultry Science Association Foundation (PSA Foundation) was pleased to announce the Award of the 2018 Ph.D. Fellowship from Merck Animal Health during the International Production and Processing Expo in Atlanta, GA. Merck Animal Health’s generous gift will support the Poultry Research Fellowship of Ms. Sohini Bhatia in the Department of Poultry Science at Texas A&M University.

The Merck Animal Health Fellowship awarded to Ms. Bhatia is the final of three which will support the research of doctoral students in poultry sciences for three years awarded in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Students selected for the Merck Animal Health Fellowships are involved in innovative applied and basic poultry science research related to intestinal health, immunology, poultry pathology and disease, molecular biology, or vaccine technology and development.

Merck Animal Health’s grant for the education of talented graduate students pursuing a career in poultry science was made through the PSA Foundation Capital Campaign (Charting Our Course –Securing Future Leadership for Poultry).

“This is a nationwide application process, and with more than 40 very qualified candidates for this grant, the work that she was proposing stood out over the rest” stated Dr. Travis Boatwright, Sales and Marketing Director-US Poultry at Merck Animal Health. “We congratulate Sohini and look forward to seeing the results”.

Nationwide student recruitment for the Merck Animal Health Fellowships for 2018 concluded with the selection of Ms. Bhatia. Merck Animal Health and the PSA Foundation formally announced the 2018 recipient during Merck Animal Health’s Luncheon at the U.S. Poultry and Egg Association International Production & Processing Expo in Atlanta, GA January 31.
