Longtime UEP member Gregg Clanton dies

Led and chaired biosecurity task force during 2015 avian influenza outbreak

Gregg Lee Clanton, 55, died February 16, 2018.

Clanton was a member of the United Egg Producers (UEP) since 1997 and served on various committees. He became a member of UEP’s executive committee in 2015. During the avian influenza crisis in the U.S. in 2015, UEP formed a biosecurity task force, and Clanton led and chaired that effort.

Clanton was born in Hartsville, South Carolina, to Harry William, Sr. and Margie Grantham Clanton, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Layne Clanton; daughters, Julia Layne and Nicole LeeAnn Clanton; brother, Harry William Clanton, Jr. (Laurie); nephew, William Wyman Clanton (Lea Butler); grandchildren, Charlotte and Preston Clanton; nieces, Anna Michelle, Haleigh Alexa, and Kimmi Mikkel Layne and Ariail Layne; nephew, Philip Layne; great-nephew, Tristan Wayne Barnett; and great-niece, Riley Ann Saylors.
