EU pig prices remain stable

Swedish prices did show a 5-cent rise mainly due to adjustments in currency exchange rates.

Barring a 4-cent decrease in the British and Irish prices of pigs-mature-for-slaughter, the European market did not witness much of a fluctuation in the last week, according to ISN. In spite of the ongoing holiday season in Spain, prices there remained unchanged.

The quotation in Sweden remained the same for the fourth consecutive week. Prices stood constant on week-ago levels in the Netherlands, Denmark, France, Belgium, Austria and Germany as well. Demand for the product remains strong with the export market for live pigs doing fairly well.
