The North American Meat Institute (Meat Institute) announced April 6 the addition of Valencia Covington to the organization’s Exposition, Education and Member Services staff. Covington joined the Meat Institute April 9 as its new manager of meetings and conference services.

Most recently, Covington served as assistant of convention services for the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) in Arlington, Virginia, where she played an instrumental role coordinating logistics and registration for more than 14 meetings and conferences.

Prior to joining FMI, Covington worked as the membership coordinator for the Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association, where she assisted in planning the organization’s Annual Meeting and Executive Forum. In her role, Covington also supported the organization’s membership operations.

Before joining the Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association, Covington was the office assistant manager for The Scheduling Institute in Norcross, Georgia, where she gained additional experience coordinating the office’s meetings and events.

“Valencia’s diverse experience and extensive expertise in meeting coordination, logistics and planning make her a supremely qualified addition to the staff,” said Meat Institute President and CEO Barry Carpenter. “We are fortunate to have her on our team.”
