Indian association seeks funds for meat processing industry

A production increase of 25% in two years is asked of the government.

The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India has demanded that the government allocate funds to modernize the meat, fish and poultry processing sector, with a goal of increasing production 25% over the next two years, according to a news report.

The industry body has requested Rs 7,500-crore to overcome problems such as erratic power supply and lack of cold chain and storage facilities. It has also urged the food processing ministry to give the processing sector industry status.
