The U.K. Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) will invest over US$165 million (£100 million) to modernize facilities at the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), animal disease research laboratories, in Pirbright, Surrey.
Reviews of the country's needs for animal health research to ensure animal welfare and food security prompted the decision. The redevelopment is expected to be complete in 2013.
