Allen Harim donated a truckload of chicken to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank and Resource Center to help feed hungry families right when they need it the most.

“This couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Susan Thomas, executive director of the Anne Arundel County Food Bank, which assists 48,000 households and serves over 2 million meals in soup kitchens every year. “Our freezer inventory was extremely low. With the end of the school year, kids won’t be able to get the free and reduced breakfast and lunch options, so we will have a lot more mouths to feed.”

She said they would also be reaching out to neighboring Howard County to see if they have an immediate need given the recent flooding that devastated parts of that county including Ellicott City.

The truck delivered 33,000 pounds, or about 824 cases of chicken Tuesday morning to the Food Bank, which is located in Crownsville, Md.

“We commend the continued commitment of companies like Allen Harim to partner with us to provide resources to Maryland communities,” said Steve McAdams, Executive Director of Maryland Governor Larry Hogan’s Office of Community Initiatives. “Allen Harim’s contribution today of over 800 cases of chicken will go a long way in providing nutritious meals to Maryland families in need.”

“It’s always gratifying to be able to partner with non-profit groups who are on the front lines making sure people’s basic needs are being met,” said Allen Harim President and CEO Joe Moran. “We are proud to be able to give back and to help make a difference in people’s lives.”
