At a ceremony in Golina recently, construction began on a new slaughterhouse for Warsaw-based poultry meat firm, Polzywnosc.

First cornerstone for the new site was officially laid by Golina’s Mayor Adam Pawlicki, and Karol Olkucki, president of the Management Board of OK Investment at the end of May, reports Jarocinska.

Construction on the 8-hectare (20-acre) site in the region of Greater Poland started earlier this year, after Polzywnosc purchased the land for PLN2.8 million (US$772,000). Operations are due to begin early in 2019, and the new plant will build up to its production capacity of 13,000 chickens per hour.

The new plant will provide employment for 200-300 people in Golina, which is in a special economic zone, according to Portal Spozywczy.

With general contractor, OK Investment, the total cost of the investment is estimated to be PLN150 million (US$41.4 million).

Warsaw-based Polzywnosc SP ZOO was founded in November 2016, according to Money.pl. The firm’s board members include Jan Wroblewski, Jacek Piotrowski, and president of the Management Board, Mateusz Burczak.

Last year, another Polish poultry company, Drobimex, completed a major expansion and modernization program at its poultry processing plant in Dabie.
