Learn from 10 sessions at 2018 Chicken Marketing Summit

The 2018 Chicken Marketing Summit will bring together chicken marketers and buyers, as well as many of the poultry industry’s allied partners, and will address challenges and opportunities that sellers and marketers face.

The 2018 Chicken Marketing Summit will bring together chicken marketers and buyers, as well as many of the poultry industry’s allied partners, and will address challenges and opportunities that sellers and marketers face.

The event is scheduled for July 21-23 in Orlando, Florida. The theme for the 2018 summit is “Survive and thrive in disruptive times.”

The 2018 Chicken Marketing Summit will include 10 sessions where industry leaders will offer their insights. Those sessions include:

1. The battle for the movable middle in today’s poultry landscape

Lampkin Butts, president and chief operating officer of Sanderson Farms, will deliver the keynote address on how the third largest and fastest growing broiler company in the United States is positioning its brands for continued growth

2. How to align the chicken supply chain to build consumer trust and sales

Steve Sands, vice president of protein, Performance Food Group, will discuss how the foodservice supplier is growing sales of its branded beef with programs that deliver transparency and accountability in how animals are raised and process, as well as the companies ambitions for programs involving poultry and pork.E

3. How to market chicken to digitally dependent consumers

Bill Bishop, chief architect at Brick Meets Click, will offer insights on e-commerce and digital solutions

4. E-commerce strategies and tactics for chicken marketers

A panel of professionals will discuss e-commerce and how it relates to the sales and marketing of chicken products. Bishop will serve as the moderator. Panelists include:

  • Dan Glei, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing, Food City
  • Steve Lauder, digital consultant working with Buffalo Wild Wings
  • Lenny Lebovich, founder and CEO of Pre Brands
  • Tim Madigan, vice president of e-commerce, Tyson Foods
  • Tony Stallone, vice president of merchandising, Peapod

5. Future of food safety in the poultry industry

Frank Yiannas, Walmart vice president of food safety, will share a message on how the world’s largest retailer is driving continuous improvement in food safety.

6. The whole bird: Understanding the key drivers of chicken in the meat department and beyond

Meagan Nelson, associate director, Perishables Group, Nielsen, will talk about opportunities for marketing chicken as its popularity grows at the retail level.

7. Chicken inspired – top flavors and trends on restaurant menus

Kelly Fechner, customer solutions director, Datassential, will address why chicken is the perfect protein for nearly all cuisines and discuss new flavors and uses of chicken on restaurant menus

8. How to win with poultry in disruptive times

A panel discussion on excelling through diversity will feature the following professionals:

  • Dr. Mark Cooper, director of product testing, Cobb-Vantress
  • Steve Sands, vice president of protein, Performance Food Group 
  • James H. Sumner, president, U.S. Poultry & Egg Export Council
  • Brian Coan, chief customer officer, George’s Inc.

9. Chicken consumption survey results

Joyce Neth, vice president of research and audience development, WATT Global Media; and Jonna Parker, principal, IRI Fresh, will give an overview and insight from an annual survey into what consumers think about chicken and how their consumption patterns have changed.

10. The customer is always right

This panel discussion will feature views on what retail and foodservice outlets are hearing from consumers and how that can impact chicken producers. Views will be shared from the following professionals:
