China crops hit by drought

Local governments try to ensure water supply.

China's State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters reported that 11.33 million hectares in the nation's main grain production areas have been affected by drought, according to a China Daily report.

The dry spell could also threaten autumn harvest, Zhang Xu, an official with the headquarters has reportedly said.

Local governments have been trying to ensure water supply for residents and crops.
