The 2 Sisters Food Group poultry plant in Wolverhampton, England, had been identified as a facility the company might close, but the company announced recently that it would remain open and turn into a seven-day operation.

2 Sisters announced in February that it was considering closing not only the Wolverhampton plant, but also the facilities in Cambuslang, Scotland, and Smethwick, England.

According to a report from Express & Star, a spokesperson with the company said that after “meaningful consultation,” 2 Sisters had determined that it is now able to utilize the Wolverhampton site to develop a new customer base, and that workers at the site “have shown that they have both the skills and levels of commitment necessary to make the venture successful.”

The decision to continue to operate the Wolverhampton plant means that all 150 jobs at the facility will be saved.

The report noted that 2 Sisters closed a plant in Smithweck earlier in 2018. Additionally, the company revealed in April that it would proceed with the closure of the facility in Cambuslang, with operations there expected to cease in August.

Recent changes at 2 Sisters Food Group

2 Sisters Food Group announced in late June that it would expand its Scottish Coupar Angus poultry plant following funding from the government-backed Food Processing Marketing and Co-operation Grant Scheme. As a result, more than 250 jobs are being created.

The company has also seen some recent changes involving the leadership of the company. Ronald Kers assumed the role of 2 Sisters’ chief executive officer on June 1, following longtime CEO Ranjit Singh Boparan’s departure from that role to concentrate in his role as president of parent company Boparan Holdings Ltd. On July 1, Craig Tomkinson was appointed as the company’s new chief financial officer, succeeding Richard Pike, who said it was “an appropriate time for me to pursue other opportunities.”
