China takes steps to ensure autumn crop

Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu has urged Jilin province governments to initiate anti-drought measures to ensure autumn grain production, china.org.cn reported.

Departments have also been instructed to raise the basic income for farmers by increasing direct subsidies.

Local government agencies have been ordered to build infrastructure projects in rural regions and consolidate farmland irrigation construction.
