A new feed mill at the University of Illinois did not break ground on September 8, as it previously was reported to be scheduled.

The university said it is still raising funds for the mill and there has not been a new date set for the groundbreaking.

In June, the university said it would build a new, $11 million animal feed mill at its South Farms in Urbana, Illinois, to replace a 90-year-old facility. At that time, construction was expected to be completed in June 2019.

According to a report, College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) Dean Kim Kidwell said fundraising for the project is still underway. In June, ACES said it had raised $6 million of the total needed for the project.
