Ukrainian company MHP saw its poultry sales volumes increase by 19 percent for the third quarter of fiscal year 2018, which ended on September 30.

The company, in a pre-close trading update, revealed on October 18 that its overall sales volume was up 19 percent to 160,778 metric tons when compared to the third quarter of the 2017 fiscal year. For the first nine months of the fiscal year, its sales volumes were up year-over-year by 7 percent to 449,215 metric tons.

Breaking it down further, MHP reported its export sales were up 52 percent to 80,361 metric tons for the third quarter and up 22 percent to 213,925 metric tons for the first nine months. However on the domestic front, sales volumes were down 2 percent to 80,417 metric tons for the third quarter and down 3 percent to 235,290 metric tons for the first nine months of the fiscal year.

In its update, MHP said the growth of export sales was in line with the company’s strategy of both geographic diversification and in a product mix optimization building up the export volumes across the European Union, Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Poultry prices for the quarter were up 2 percent from where they were during the third quarter of fiscal year 2017, and for the first nine months of the fiscal year, they were up 16 percent.

Update on Vinnytsia poultry complex

MHP also offered a progress report on its new poultry complex in Vinnytsia, Ukraine.

During the third quarter, three rearing sites for the complex began operations. The processing plant began operations in July, and since that time it has gradually increased its capacity utilization.

All other poultry production facilities were operating at full capacity during the quarter.

Formerly known as Myronivsky Hliboproduct, MHP is a leading meat producer in Ukraine whose poultry division holds more than 50 percent market share.
