New reports of mycotoxins in soybeans and corn silage have been confirmed, according to Neogen’s Monday Mycotoxin and Crop Report from October 29.
A new confirmed report of deoxynivalenol (DON) in soybeans came from Iowa; a new report of DON in corn silage came from Vermont. Previous reports of DON in corn have come from Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana, New York, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Ontario, Canada.
A new report of zearalenone in corn silage came from Vermont. A previous report of zearalenone in corn silage came from South Dakota.
Previous reports of aflatoxin in corn have come from North Carolina, Illinois, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Iowa, Texas, Kansas and Georgia.
Previous reports of T-2/HT-2 toxin in corn silage came from Ontario, Canada.
Previous reports of fumonisin in corn have from Nebraska, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri.
There were no new reports of mycotoxins in barley or wheat. Spring wheat and barley harvests are complete. Previous reports of DON in barley have come from Pennsylvania and Minnesota. Previous reports of DON in winter wheat have come from Wisconsin, Ohio, New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Indiana, North Carolina, Maryland, Delaware, Tennessee, Virginia and Illinois.
Corn crop fully mature
The corn crop is fully mature. Forty-nine percent of corn has been harvested, two points ahead of the five-year average.
Sixty-eight percent of corn is in good to excellent condition, while 12 percent is in poor to very poor condition.
