Former American Egg Board president dies

Louis B. Raffel, 85, former president of the American Egg Board (AEB), died on December 7, 2018.

In 2007, Raffel retired from the AEB after 30 years of service. Raffel was “the leader of a dedicated staff that has put together many programs that tout the benefits of eggs in the diet and created public relations and advertising featuring eggs and their positive uses,” according to a WATTAgNet.com report.

In 2009, Raffel received the Eggman of the Year award from Urner Barry.

Raffel is survived by his wife, Trudi (Weiner); children Larry Raffel, Sharon (Gary) Riederman and Mark (Lisa) Raffel; grandchildren Brett, Ian, Peter, Ali, Alec and Lizabeth; and numerous other relatives.

Services were held on December 9 at Chicago Jewish Funerals in Skokie, Illinois. Interment is at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, Illinois. Shiva will be at Sedgebrook in Lincolnshire, Illinois, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 10.
