A tornado hit the Tyson Foods hatchery in Eufaula, Alabama, on March 3. “Parts of Eufaula are now unrecognizable after the tornado passed through the town,” WTVY reported.
Worth Sparkman, senior manager of public relations with Tyson, explained that the company’s processing plant in Eufaula was not obstructed and operated as usual on March 4. However, the company’s hatchery was impacted and did not operate. “We’re still assessing damage at that facility,” he said.
To the best of the company’s knowledge, none of the employees were injured. “Our hearts go out to everyone who was impacted by the weather in Alabama yesterday,” Sparkman said.

Jack Tibbs, mayor of Eufaula, told WRBL that the damage to the city’s airport could reach as much as US$100 million.
“In addition to the airport damage, the city's north fire station was also destroyed. Two firefighters rode out the storm huddled on top of one another in the building," Tibbs says.
"The firefighters were not injured,” WRBL reported.
