Steve Evans is leaving Perdue Farms as the president of the company’s Prepared Foods segment, the company confirmed.
Evans, according to company spokesman Bill See, will “pursue other opportunities,” while Perdue Farms CEO Randy Day will handle Evans’ duties during the interim, in addition to his responsibilities as CEO.
Evans’ stint as the leader of the Prepared Foods division began in May 2016. It was his second period of employment with Perdue. He first joined the company in 1985, and held a variety of sales and marketing positions with the company. He was promoted to vice president of marketing, vice president of sales and marketing, and senior vice president of retail sales and marketing in 2009. In 2011, he was promoted to senior vice president of sales and supply chain, where he was responsible for driving sales in the foodservice, international, and wholesale and industrial channels, and leading the supply, demand, customer service, logistics and transportation functions.
He left the Perdue in 2013 to become chief executive officer of Allen Harim Foods, holding that position for about three years. Evans was succeeded at Allen Harim by Joe Moran, who was promoted to the CEO position after having been an executive director and a member of the company’s leadership council.
Prior to going to work for Perdue in 1985, Evans, who earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration and marketing from Georgia State University and completed advanced business studies from Wharton and Darden business schools, was employed by Cagle’s Farms.
Day has been CEO of Perdue Farms since March 2017. An employee of Perdue Farms since 1980, Day also served as the chief operating officer of the company, as well as the president of Perdue Foods.
Perdue Farms, according to the WATTAgNet Top Poultry Companies Database, is the fourth largest broiler company and seventh largest turkey company in the United States.
