Demand for poultry in Turkey increased almost 40% amid the Ramadan holiday, according to reports.

“We can say that poultry producers are living their best days. We expect this high demand for poultry to continue until the Feast of the Sacrifice,” said Necmettin Çalışkan, general director of Beyza Piliç, a poultry producer based in Adana.

Çalışkan lists low cost and ease of digestion as reasons consumers may be choosing to break fast with chicken, as opposed to red meat.
