Aviagen has started construction on a new, state-of-the-art hatchery in Russia; an investment of several million Euros.

The facility, which is located in Jasnogorsk, Tula Oblast, southwest of Moscow, will supply customers in Russia, a quickly growing poultry market.

The hatchery will have a minimum capacity of 5.5 million parent stock per year and is slated to be complete mid-2010.

“… With the majority of growth in the European poultry industry expected to be in countries such as Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, it makes sense for us to build a hatchery close to these markets,” said Brian Whittle, president of European operations.
