Philippine farmers get higher corn price

Government to retropay on previously sold corn

The Philippine’s Department of Agriculture met corn farmers’ demand that a P$13/k price be applied uniformly to yellow corn sales, says the Philippine Star.

The deal, which came after heated debate, also retroactively applies to an earlier amount sold to the government for P$3/k less.

An agreement was also reached for class B yellow corn to be sold at the lesser price of P$10/k.
