According to reports, legislators in Washington, D.C., are considering an appropriations measure that contains emergency aid to dairy farmers and lifts an import ban of two years on Chinese poultry.

The agreement would give $290 million to dairy farmers and also authorize USDA to buy $60 million in cheese and other dairy products to reduce surpluses.

If passed, Chinese poultry that meets this country’s safety standards could again be imported.
