Ghana poultry farmers asked to unite

Poultry farmers ask for security, better loans

According to reports, Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, regional minister of Ghana’s Brong-Ahafo, appealed to both farmers and national executives at a poultry farmer association meeting. He asked those in the industry to work collectively to create price uniformity to benefit consumers.

Nyamekye-Marfo said the government was committed to improving the poultry industry, which provides food and jobs for many Ghanaians.

Association chair Kwadwo Asante said that serious government interventions were required in the industry including security for local products.

A document from the association called for better loans for farmers from financial institutions and asked its government to stop chicken imports.
