Fire in Iowa idles pork plant

170 employees temporarily out of work

Reports say a fire, possibly caused by an electrical program, has damaged a pork processing plant in northwest Iowa. Officials believe the fire started in one of the plant’s coolers, Sunday, Oct. 4.

The plant was vacant and remains closed.

Company spokesman Bart Bickley says he hopes the 170 employees can return to work in a few days.
