The American Feed Industry Association’s free Feed Education Program returns this year to the International Production & Processing Expo on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, to update attendees on recent changes within several federal agencies. The four-hour program is ideal for animal food facility managers, operations personnel and mill personnel looking to learn about the latest regulatory requirements impacting their businesses.

“This program offers attendees the opportunity to learn how new regulations affect the animal food industry and ideas to help the industry improve its manufacturing practices,” said Gary Huddleston, AFIA’s director of feed manufacturing and regulatory affairs. “State and federal requirements on animal food safety, environmental protection, transportation and workplace safety are regularly changing, and it’s important to stay current in compliance.”

The agenda includes updates on what’s new within the Food and Drug Administration, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as a discussion on navigating Food Safety Modernization Act inspections at your facility from a legal perspective, followed by a panel discussion with industry representatives on the subject.

In addition to the educational portion of the program, AFIA will announce the winner of its 2019 Feed Facility of the Year program. AFIA, in cooperation with Feedstuffs, conducts the Feed Facility of the Year program to recognize companies for outstanding performance in animal food manufacturing. The program recognizes winners in four categories, including: integrator, commercial dry livestock feed, liquid feed and premix manufacturing, and among those, a top facility is selected to be the Feed Facility of the Year.

The Feed Education Program will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on January 29, 2020. More information is available on the IPPE websiteOnline registration for IPPE is now open, and this program is included with trade show admission.
