Cherkizovo Group reported a year-over-year increase in its chicken, turkey and pork sales volumes in 2019.

The Russian agrifood company released its annual operating results on January 14.

Chicken sales

Cherkizovo’s sales volume for its chicken segment increased 22% in 2019 to 663,020 metric tons. The company noted that the sales volume growth was largely spurred by the full integration of assets it acquired near the end of 2018. Those assets include Altaisky Broiler and a majority share of Samson.

The company’s increased sales volume was helped by an increase in the average price of chicken, which rose about 9% in 2019 to RUB105.98 (US$1.73) per kilogram.

Turkey sales

Cherkizovo, which operates Tambov Turkey in a partnership with Grupo Fuertes of Spain, saw a slight increase in its turkey sales volume for the most recent year. In 2019, it sold 39,410 metric tons of turkey, up from 39,250 metric tons in 2018.

The average price of turkey jumped 14% in 2019 to RUB169.23 (US$2.76) per kilogram.

Pork sales

Cherkizovo’s pork sales volumes rose 16% to 274,590 metric tons in 2019. That improvement was aided by the additional production brought on by new wean-to-finish farms in its production system. Largely due to those new sites, the company produced 15% more pork in 2019 than it did in 2018.

The average sales price declined 9% for the year, with the increased supply from additional production being cited as one reason. The average price for pork was RUB89.14 (US$1.45) per kilogram.

Grain production and sales

At the same time, Cherkizovo released its figures for its chicken, turkey and pork operations, it released figures related to its grain operations. A report on those figures can be found on feedstrategy.com.

Cherkizovo Group, according to the Poultry International Top Companies rankings, is the largest poultry company in Russia and the third largest poultry company in Europe.
