There’s a new chicken restaurant chain opening, but it doesn’t have a brick and mortar outlet.

Wing Squad is a virtual restaurant chain where wings, sides and sweets are made in a ghost kitchen, a generic production facility typically used to fulfill off-premise orders for one or more branded restaurants. The food is then delivered via a food delivery service app, such as GrubHub, DoorDash, Uber Eats and Postmates.

Off-premises dining is becoming increasingly popular, accounting for 27% of restaurant industry sales in 2018. Delivery apps offers convenience and ease to consumers. Investment bank UBS estimates that worldwide delivery sales could be valued at $365 billion by the year 2030.

Wing Squad’s online menu features antibiotic- and preservative-free wings in six different flavors, including BBQ, Honey Garlic, Cajun, Garlic Parmesan, Sweet Chili and Buffalo. Six wings retail $7.99. Twelve ($13.99) and 18-packs ($17.99) are also available.

The online food orders are delivered in unique, on-brand packaging that is Instagram-ready, according to the press release.

Only available in select cities

Wing Squad is available in 16 U.S. cities - Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Palo Alto, Orlando, San Diego, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

Additional cities will be available soon. The chain is part of the Virtual Design Concepts, “a creator of ‘delivery only brands’ poised to expand the revenue of your brick and mortar kitchen,” according to the company's website.

"Food delivery has quickly become an everyday occurrence for many people, so I created Wing Squad as part of my Virtual Dining Concepts network," restaurateur Robert Earl said in a press release. "Wing Squad will be delivery only, which allows us to launch from a wide range of locations. With this business model, the sky is the limit."
