Convenience-grocery chain 7-Eleven has opened Raise the Roost Chicken & Biscuits restaurant, a Southern-inspired quick-service concept, located in the chain’s Manhattan, New York Evolution Store.

"On the go customers are looking for high quality, differentiated food options and 7-Eleven continues to explore new concepts that meet that demand," 7-Eleven President & CEO, Joe DePinto said in a statement. "Raise the Roost offers craveable food and generous portions at prices below what you'll find at most fried chicken establishments."

Raise the Roost’s menu features made-from scratch, hand-breaded fried chicken tenders with signature sauces, bone-in and boneless wings and signature chicken and breakfast sandwiches available in both made-to-order and grab-and-go options.

Real-time, real-life experiential testing grounds

The chain uses Evolution Stores as real-time, real-life experiential testing grounds for new store formats. These stores are the first to integrate restaurant concepts into 7-Eleven store designs.

Each store is designed to reflect the neighborhood and customers it serves. For example, a neon Statue of Liberty decorates the lower-Manhattan location. Other locations include Washington, DC, Dallas, Texas and San Diego, California.

In addition to Raise the Roost, the Manhattan location also offers made-to-order specialty drinks, touch-screen machines that brew custom hot and ice coffee in seconds, novelty beverage on tap including tea, cold brew, kombucha and more and a cold treats bar with self-serve frozen yogurt and ice cream.

Customers can skip the counter with mobile checkout and the 7-eleven app or have items delivered straight to the door with the company’s on-demand mobile app.

"Today's customers expect even more than they did just a year ago when 7-Eleven opened its first Evolution Store in Dallas," said Chris Tanco, 7-Eleven executive vice president and chief operating officer. "Consumer feedback – from that original store and the neighborhoods these new stores will serve – helped our store development team refine and design this next generation of the 7-Eleven shopping experience. We have raised the bar for convenience and invite everyone to come experience it for themselves."
