Poultry farms generate a lot of data during day to day operations. Managing this data can be a challenge. The latest technology innovations can not only analyze the vast volume of data, they help make the data actionable.

This helps keep all stakeholders – farm managers, veterinarians, production managers, operations managers and more – in the loop when it comes to performance, set procedures and even serve as early alert systems when issues arise during a production cycle to ensure that flocks remain healthy.

“It is now a necessity for poultry companies to digitalize their operations and processes,” Neamat El Tazi, the Chief Operating Officer of AbuErdan, explained. “Having a way to shed the light on data insights enables decision-makers to take corrective actions that can save money through the production cycle.”

AbuErdan was one of the innovators selected to present at the 2019 Poultry Tech Summit, an annual event that connects researchers and entrepreneurs with poultry sector technology experts, financiers, venture capitalists and producers looking for new projects and investments to fund. The 2020 Poultry Tech Summit, scheduled for October 12-14, 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia, is currently seeking applications for innovation and technology presentations.

Challenges posed by COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic makes clear communication between all stakeholders more important than ever. New tools allow farm managers to easily share data with other stakeholders, ensuring that all key performance indicators are met while reducing the number of necessary face-to-face interactions.

In addition, some cloud-based tools are designed with technological challenges. such as poor connectivity in rural areas, in mind.

“Regular visits to keep track of performance, set procedures and highlight issues that arise during a production cycle are very important to make sure that the flock is healthy and is going on the right direction,” El Tazi explained.

“However, having those regular visits increase the probability that a farm manager, production manager, vet, or an operation manager can get the virus and spread it among the rest of the poultry company and their families.”

To support poultry farms during the COVID-19 crisis, AbuErdan is offering its poultry management software for a 50% discount.
