Canadian hog farmers ask for aid

Reports say the Manitoba Pork Council is asking for support from the provincial government for the hog sector, which has been losing money for more than two years.

Manitoba Pork Council chair, Karl Kynoch, says the industry has been refused a match to the Saskatchewan program and has not been offered other solutions by the government.

The council is seeking tax relief on barns that farmers cannot afford to pay given the state of the industry.
