Anne Alonzo, the departing CEO of the American Egg Board, has joined Corteva Agriscience as the senior vice president of external affairs and chief sustainability officer.

Alonzo, who joined the AEB in 2016, announced her intent to resign in February, saying “a challenging professional opportunity found her.” At the time, she only identified her future employer as a “newly-public agriculture company.”

Corteva formed in 2018 as a spin-off company from DowDuPont. With the formation of that company, DuPont Crop Protection, DuPont Pioneer and Dow AgroSciences were all part of one combined company.

“I am delighted to welcome Anne Alonzo to Corteva. As a highly experienced leader in our industry she has a unique blend of experience across the public, not-for-profit and corporate sectors that will greatly benefit us as we work to advance a sustainable global agriculture ecosystem,” Corteva Agriscience CEO James C. Collins Jr. said in a press release. “We established Corteva as a new kind of agriculture company and Anne’s expertise and experience will accelerate the progress we have already made to drive more sustainable, collaborative practices across our business.”

Speaking on her new opportunity with Corteva, Alonzo stated: “With its global presence, industry-leading pipeline and an experienced team of innovators, Corteva is ideally positioned to meet its goal of ensuring progress in the agriculture industry for generations to come, driving value for all of its stakeholders. Corteva has set out to lead the industry and I am excited to join a team that is already demonstrating its commitment to building an agricultural ecosystem that supports people, progress and the planet.”

During her time with AEB, Alonzo was responsible for directing national campaigns in advertising, public relations, consumer education, retail, foodservice, export marketing and egg nutrition. During her tenure with the AEB, she received multiple honors, including Latino Magazine’s BRAVA Award, a Chicago United 2019 Business Leader of Color and a Chicago Maestro Award.

Search for new AEB CEO underway

According to an email from Marc Dresner, no successor – permanent or interim – has been named, saying the AEB leadership team “has direct responsibility for the organization in the meantime, with support from our chairman and executive committee.

Dresner added that the search for a new CEO “has been moving along well.”
