The World’s Poultry Congress (WPC) has been postponed until August 8-12, 2021, due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The French branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA) and the organizing committee of the 26th World’s Poultry Congress 2020 (WPC2020) stated that the health and well-being of congress participants is their highest priority, and after consulting the members of the WPSA board, as well as the sponsors, and getting their agreement decided to postpone the event.

“The organizing and scientific committees have continued working hard on the preparation of the conference. We are grateful to all members of the scientific committee, for their contribution to set up a rich scientific program. We hope that the already selected 50 invited speakers will respond positively to join in 2021. We are also grateful to the numerous scientists who evaluated the abstracts. We will communicate the results with their comments by the end of April 2020, thus permitting to modify acceptable abstracts or amend accepted ones with new results. We will extend the deadline for regular registration fee until December 31, 2020, so that the authors can confirm attendance to the meeting in August 2021. In addition, we will also reopen the site for submission of new abstracts, from September 1 to December 31, 2020,” the organizers said in a press release.

The WPC2020 registrations recorded until now will remain valid for the new dates in 2021. The awardees of the youth program or the young scientist programs will retain their fellowship. People who may find it difficult to attend in 2021, are encouraged to contact the organizers at [email protected].

Regular updates will be posted on the WPC2020 website, which will guide you to the 2021 event. Information will also be sent via emails and newsletters to registered participants and WPSA members, and through social media.

“We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the immense solidarity of all those within the poultry community who supported this decision. We are grateful to the European Federation of WPSA branches, which accepted to reconsider the planning of all international WPSA meetings in Europe. The prompt support of the Italian branch engaged in the preparation of the ESPN 2021, was particularly helpful to move forward. Special thanks go to our sponsors and partners who fully understood the situation and supported this decision, accompanying us to make the World’s Poultry Congress in 2021 an event not be missed,” the press release stated.

“We count on you for a successful World’s Poultry Congress at Palais des Congrès de Paris, August 8-12, 2021, which also will give the opportunity to celebrate the 100 years of the WPC since its first edition in 1921!”
