An electrical contractor died as a result of an industrial accident at a Foster Farms facility in Fresno, California.

The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. on June 19 at Foster Farms’ plant on Cherry Avenue.

The victim has been identified as Victor Gamez III, 30. He was employed by JTI Contractors. He is survived by a wife, Brooke, and a daughter, Nora, according to ABC30.

Brook Gamez said he was up in an attic when he made contact with a hot wire that fatally injured him.

In a statement, Foster Farms said the company is fully cooperating with the contractor’s investigation, together with local law enforcement and OSHA.

"We are saddened by this tragic death and extend our sympathy to the individual's family and friends," Foster Farms said in a statement.

Earlier tragedies

Foster Farms, which is the 10th largest broiler producer and the 13th largest turkey producer in the United States, has experienced multiple tragedies at its facilities in recent months.

On April 7, a worker at the Foster Farms turkey plant in Turlock, California, died at the scene after he was apparently being “pulled into the production conveyor by his neck, resulting in fatal crushing injuries to his skull,” according to the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health. The victim, identified as Luis Salazar, 30, had reportedly fallen asleep on multiple occasions during his shift.

In July 2019, at a Foster Farms Fresno facility, an outside contractor died after a larger refrigerator fell on the man’s head as he and others attempted to move it. That same week, a part-time temporary worker for the Foster Farms food processing plant in Corvallis, Oregon, fired a handgun in the ladies’ restroom after fleeing the scene of a car accident. No one was injured in that incident, but the Foster Farms plant closed for the remainder of the day.
