The government of Venezuela reported July 4 that 38 positive cases of COVID-19 occurred at an Ebenezer poultry processing plant, an overwhelming majority of the 41 cases officially reported for the state of Yaracuy.

The information was released in the daily government bulletin prepared and read by Jorge Rodríguez, vice-president of communication, Culture and Tourism. To date, the Bolivarian regime counted only 6,750 infected, 2,100 recovered and only 62 dead during a period of more than three months of the pandemic.

The cases at the Yaracuy poultry processing plant were referred by this spokesperson as episodes of “community transmission,” that is, that they occurred among regular residents of that state and do not correspond to recently immigrated people, to which the regime points as the main agent transmitting the virus.

The Punto de Corte media released more information, specifying that it was not provided by Rodriguez. “The decision has been made to close the chicken slaughterhouse to continue with the epidemiological siege,” the news said, without clarifying the estimated closing period.

In a report broadcast by the Venezuelan official television in July 2019, it was alleged that the private poultry group Ebenezer has a flock of 12 million birds and processed about 120,000 broilers a day at its Bruzal slaughter plant. At that time, Ebenezer would have around 4,200 employees throughout its integrated operation, of which 800 would be at the poultry processing plant.
