Sanderson Farms has introduced Google Home and Amazon Alexa-activated recipes, a hassle-free solution that gives consumers access to more than 180 recipes, including garlic parmesan chicken wings, Mediterranean chicken thighs and chicken fajitas.

“Sanderson Farms launched its smart speaker skill to help consumers make hassle-free, delicious recipes. It is our hope that this skill can help busy consumers spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying meals with their friends and family,” explained Hilary Burroughs, the company’s Director of Marketing.

“We also wanted to make sure we were meeting people where they’re engaging. TechCrunch estimates that 75% of U.S. households will own a smart speaker by 2025, so we felt it was smart to be proactive and establish ourselves within the space.”

Approximately one in four U.S. adults owns at least one smart speaker, according to Market Land, a daily publication that covers all aspects of the digital marketing industry.

The company is working on additional smart speaker capabilities, including cooking tips, frequently asked questions and recipes by cut of chicken.

Cooking with ease

With more time at home because of COVID-19, consumers are on the lookout for new recipes and ways to use their cooking skills.

“The smart speaker skill offers consumers hands-free access to over 180 Sanderson Farms recipes. Once the skill is enabled, consumers can ask their smart speaker to talk them through recipe ingredients and step-by-step directions,” Burroughs explained. “This skill helps consumers cook with ease, cutting back on any time and effort it might take to refer to a printed or digital recipe.”

A technological, strategic and creative challenge

Sanderson Farms is the first chicken producer to launch a smart speaker skill.

“Bringing the first hands-free recipe skill to the poultry industry presented challenges – technologically, strategically and creatively. Our team and agency partners worked together to build this useful new tool that gives customers a new way to interact with Sanderson Farms,” Burroughs said.
