Two workers at the Tyson Foods poultry plant in Nashville, Arkansas, have been injured in a fire that occurred at the complex during the early morning hours of July 9.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

According to a report from KSLA, firefighters arrived on the scene at 2:19 a.m. Upon arrival, they found one building to be fully involved, but that building was not attached to the larger plant structure.

“The fire was limited to (a) detached building, so the main section of the plant was not impacted,” Tyson Foods spokesman Worth Sparkman said in an email.

“Unfortunately, two of our team members have been injured and are receiving medical attention,” Sparkman said. “We appreciate the quick response of local firefighters and first responders, who quickly put the fire out and helped our team members.”

While the main part of the plant was not impacted by the fire, Sparkman said the further processing portion of the plant did not operate on July 9 in order for Tyson Foods to assess the fire situation.

KSLA reported that the Nashville Fire Department, County Line Fire Department, Centerpoint Fire Department, Mineral Springs Fire Department and Yancy Fire Department responded to the fire.

Nashville is located in Howard County, in the southwestern part of the state.

The Nashville fire was one of several to impact Tyson Foods operations in recent months.

In August 2019, Tyson Foods’ beef plant in Holcomb, Kansas, was heavily damaged by a fire. The blaze severely damaged a critical part of the plant, and required a rebuilding of a portion of the facility. While further processing operations continued, harvest operations did not resume until December 2019.

In September 2019, a fire destroyed a semi hauling 38,000 pounds of Tyson chicken in Ozark, Arkansas.

Also in 2019, an arson occurred at a Tyson Foods broiler farm in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
