Cooper Farms celebrated the grand opening of their new Recruiting and Training Center with an open interview event on July 15.

The center, located in St. Henry, Ohio, will be used to hold interviews, orientations and training sessions and meet the hiring needs for the company’s Mercer County locations. Open interviews will also be held on the second Wednesday of every month starting in August, the company said.

“We’re always striving to improve our team member experience at Cooper Farms,” Director of Human Resources and Safety, Jack Staugler, said in a statement. “That experience starts even before they become Cooper Farms team members during the recruitment and interview process.”

With hiring continuing throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the new facility has implemented social distancing protocols to help keep new team workers safe throughout the hiring and training process.

“We had an opportunity to gain some office space in the plaza. This location not only enables us to focus on that team member experience, but to collaboratively work together to be able to expand candidates’ exposure to opportunities at both our St. Henry and Fort Recovery locations,” Staugler continues. “Candidates can learn about opportunities in our egg, chicken, turkey and hog areas all in one visit. It’s truly a one-stop shop.”

Earlier this year, the Ohio Department of Agriculture granted a final permit to install and operate a new egg production facility in Darke County, Ohio. The facility is expected to have six barns that will house about 4 million hens.

According to the Egg Industry Top Companies survey, Cooper Farms is the 20th largest egg company in the United States, with a flock of 5 million hens. With the proposed addition of 4 million hens with the Darke County facility, Cooper Farms would become the country’s 11th largest egg company, based on 2019 figures.

Cooper Farms is also a major producer of pigs and turkeys. The company slaughtered 286 million pounds of live turkeys in 2019.
