VIDEO: Broiler industry profitability 'good not great'

The broiler industry is profitable for now, but may struggle later in 2020.

The broiler industry is profitable for now, but may struggle later in 2020. 

In a WATT Poultry Chat interview, Mark Jordan, executive director of LEAP Market Analytics, spoke about how current market conditions for feed costs as well as white and dark meat costs are impacting industry profitability. 

While profitability is not as good as the five-year average, he said it is positive and should follow historical trends for the rest of the summer. With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to impact foodservice demand, profitability may not be as strong in the fall.
