PSA annual meeting concludes with new board members

The Poultry Science Association’s first ever virtual annual meeting has concluded.

The Poultry Science Association’s first ever Virtual Annual Meeting has concluded. The meeting was held online over the course of three days and included over 300 scientific presentations, more than 65 hours of programming, and exceeded 1,000 registrants. An additional benefit of this year’s meeting being held in a virtual space, is that registrants may continue accessing content until August 21, 2020.

At the conclusion of the Annual Meeting, the new PSA Board of Director Elects started their volunteer roles with the association. New board members include 2nd Vice President, Tom E. Porter (University of Maryland), Directors Lisa R. Bielke (Ohio State University) and Charles L. Hofacre (Southern Poultry Research Group), and Junior Student Director, Gabriela Cardoso Dal Pont (Texas A&M University).

PSA also gave thanks to those board members who rolled off the Board, Past President Billy M. Hargis (University of Arkansas), Directors Robert B. Beckstead (North Carolina State University) and April W. Levy (DSM Nutritional Products), and Senior Student Director Maci Oelschlager (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). New Board President, Christine Alvarado (Arm and Hammer Animal and Food Production) concluded the meeting with encouraging all attendees to join PSA in Omaha, Nebraska July 19-22, 2021.

“I look forward to seeing everyone in-person next year. Unfortunately, the circumstances this year did not allow us to network as we have grown accustom to. However, this year’s meeting has still proven to be successful and has ushered PSA into an entirely new realm with regard to how we can network and present scientific research. I look forward to seeing how PSA can progress further with new endeavors such as this,” said Alvarado.

The 2020-2021 PSA Board of Directors can be found on the PSA Website. Attendees of the Virtual 2020 PSA Annual Meeting can continue to access the meeting’s content in the same manner used to log into the meeting during the live dates (links are available on the PSA website under the Meetings menu). Access to sessions, posters, symposium recordings, and more will be provided to registrants until August 21, 2020.
